God Is Patient

The Lord does not delay His promise, as some regard delay, but He is patient with you, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.  ~  2 Peter 3:9

I find so much solace in this Bible passage.  I need God to be patient with me.  I have good intentions but they never seem to come to fruition.  I do get the feeling that time is running out though.  And when I look back on my life, I see so many things that I wish I had done differently.  I need a "do-over".  If only it were that easy.
I'm glad that God is patient.

"I should have no objection to go over the same life from it's beginning to end: requesting only the advantage authors have, of correcting in a second edition the faults of the first."  ~  Benjamin Franklin

Disorderly Conduct

For we hear that there are some which walk among you disorderly, working not at all, but are busybodies.  Now them that are such we command and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that with quietness they work... ~ 2 Thessalonians 3:11-12

I've been thinking about this a lot lately.  We live in such a world of disorder, and then I act to create even more disorder.  I'm trying to take a step back, stop being such a busybody, and work in quietness.

"Life is not orderly.  No matter how we try to make life so, right in the middle of it we die, lose a leg, fall in love, drop a jar of applesauce."  ~  Natalie Goldberg

In Times Of Strife

He who walks in darkness, to whom no light appears, let him trust in the Name of Yahweh, let him rely upon his God.  ~  Isaiah 50:10

I've noticed that times in my life when there has been much tribulation, those have been the times easiest for me to 'let go and Let God'.  It's more the 'little conflicts' that arise when I am haughty enough to think that I, and I alone, can solve the problem.
Let me never forget Who the Captain of my ship Is.

"It means the renunciation of all deluded images of ourselves, all exaggerated estimates of our own capacities, in order to obey God's will as it comes to us."  ~  Thich Nhat Hanh
